Well, it’s been a while, though I felt it was about time that the vBeers.org website was overhauled, particularly now that everyone is starting to emerge from their vCaves once again post-covid, and are wanting to make up for lost time to connect with friends and their fellow vGeek community in person.
Apart from the overhaul of the interface, I’ve also added some new functionality to the vBeers website that I hope you find useful.
- Virtual Meetups – Arrange your own virtual vBeers meetup! In-person events still aren’t possible in many parts of the world, and aren’t always the most convenient for some, so putting the ‘virtual’ into vBeers made a lot of sense. When submitting a vBeers meetup now, you will notice that there is an option to provide virtual meeting details, eg: link and password (if required), for online meeting providers such as Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams. The vBeers event type, ie: physical or virtual, will be indicated in each meetup posting.
- Meetup Submissions – I have streamlined the process of submitting your vBeers event. All you have to do is click on the ‘Submit vBeers Event’ button on the top menu, and follow the easy to use wizard to enter all the necessary details. Once submitted, we will then take your vBeers meetup information and transform it into a great-looking event entry on the vBeers.org site.
- New Logo – Lastly, and definitely not least, we have a new vBeers mascot/logo! You’ll see the new vBeers mascot pop up across the site, and I am currently arranging some great looking stickers which I can start to distribute to those who would like some.
So let’s kick of vBeers season again (virtual or physical/in-person), post your vBeers meetup today!
*Note: new vBeers meetups will appear below this post – watch this space.
Thanks, Simon S.
